I am a writer, editor, and brand strategist based in Cape Town and California. My last role was Senior Editor of Exponential View, a weekly newsletter about technology and its impact on society.

I was formerly the Editor-in-Chief of emerge85, an economics project exploring the political, economic, and cultural shifts taking place in emerging markets. I write a weekly newsletter called Both/And (Subscribe!). Before all this, I was Monocle's Istanbul Bureau Chief and the magazine’s Eastern Mediterranean Correspondent. 

My print work has appeared in GQ, MIT Technology Review, Bloomberg Businessweek, Slate, Los Angeles Review of Books, Salon, Tablet, and the German edition of Le Monde Diplomatique.

When I’m not telling stories, I help technology companies, governments, cities, and NGOs tell their stories as a consultant and brand strategist. My clients include founders, investors, public servants, and government leaders from around the world.
